Cassie Ventura, the R&B singer known professionally as Cassie, testified in federal court about her 10-year relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs, describing it as a period marked by control, violence, and coerced sexual exploitation.

She recounted that Combs, whom she began dating shortly after signing to his label at age 19, forced her into disturbing sexual scenarios he called “freak offs,” which were often drug-fueled, multi-day events involving male sex workers. These sessions, she said, were orchestrated entirely by Combs, who sometimes watched via FaceTime and even dictated aesthetic details like her use of baby oil.

Cassie Recounts Emotional Trauma, Coerced Acts, and Combs’ Grip on Her Life

Throughout her nearly five hours on the witness stand, Cassie became visibly emotional, often pausing to compose herself as she recounted her trauma. She explained that she remained in the relationship partly out of love and partly because she felt completely controlled by Combs, who dictated everything from her music career to her personal life. One of the most harrowing moments revisited in court was a 2016 hotel assault caught on video, which showed Combs beating and dragging her — a clip the jury has now seen multiple times.

Cassie revealed that her first coerced “freak off” took place when she was just 22, involving a male stripper from Las Vegas. Despite feeling confused and degraded afterward, she continued participating to appease Combs and avoid his wrath. Over time, these acts became routine, often involving ecstasy and lasting for up to four days. She testified that these encounters left her feeling “heavily objectified” and emotionally detached, to the point where she began using drugs regularly just to endure them.

Cassie Describes Years of Control, Coercion, and Abuse in Trafficking Trial Testimony

According to Cassie, Combs exercised near-total control over her life and retaliated when she tried to break free. He restricted her career choices, controlled her living arrangements, and enforced emotional dependency through cycles of affection and violence. When asked about the frequency of the physical abuse, she stated it had happened “too many [times] to count.” She also noted that, as his influence over her deepened, the line between intimacy and coercion became increasingly blurred.

By her own account, Cassie was forced into weekly “freak offs” for nearly a decade, with the final one occurring around 2017 or 2018. She described the process as deeply dehumanizing and exhausting — something that left her physically and mentally drained each time. These sessions eventually consumed so much of her life that she described them as a job in themselves, one from which she constantly needed to recover before being forced to endure it all over again.

Now 38 and expecting her third child, Cassie is a key witness in the federal sex trafficking case against Combs, who has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors allege that Combs leveraged his fame and wealth to run a coercive, abusive system that exploited multiple women. Although his legal team argues all acts were consensual, the gravity and consistency of Cassie’s testimony have drawn significant public attention. Combs remains jailed and faces a potential sentence of 15 years to life if convicted.
