Ashley Longshore has found a fan in Reese Witherspoon. The “Morning Show” star attended Longshore’s ROAR! portrait series in Nashville this week, and sources say she was captivated by the pop art provocateur’s techniques.
“Reese was extremely interested in her work and technique, going from piece to piece, examining every brushstroke and fabric placement,” an insider told.
Witherspoon Was Intrigued by Longshore’s Artistic Process
The New York-based artist partnered with Live Nation Women to bring her portrait series to Saint Elle, a premier event space in the heart of Music City.
Longshore showcased 73 pieces, including portraits of Nashville icons like Dolly Parton, Minnie Pearl, and Taylor Swift, as well as music legends Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga.
At one point, Witherspoon, clearly impressed, asked Longshore, “How in the hell do you do this?” The artist, ever quick-witted, responded with, “What? Like it’s hard?”—a playful nod to Witherspoon’s famous “Legally Blonde” line. Needless to say, Longshore’s humor had Witherspoon chuckling.

Brittany Howard & Scout Willis Among Other Notable Guests
Witherspoon wasn’t the only one drawn into Longshore’s vibrant world. Alabama Shakes singer Brittany Howard also attended, and the two bonded over their shared Alabama roots.
Howard, originally from Athens, Alabama, was delighted to learn that Longshore hails from Montgomery. The artist even revealed that she often listens to Howard’s music while painting.
Meanwhile, Scout Willis was spotted at the event and was overheard telling Nashville singer-songwriter Cody Belew that she was in town for writing sessions.
Collectors Show Interest in Longshore’s Work
It seems Longshore’s exhibit wasn’t just for admiration—it may have also led to some sales.
Morgane Stapleton and Karen Fairchild were overheard discussing which of Longshore’s paintings they wanted to purchase.
Reflecting on the energy of the night, Longshore summed up her thoughts, saying:
“There is nothing more powerful than a circle of women. Have those women singing a song and you’ll go right to heaven. And that is Nashville.”
