Insights into FTR’s AEW Contract Expiration and Future Prospects

Despite the current buzz surrounding Vince McMahon’s return to WWE, another major storyline is unfolding: the impending free agency of FTR. The duo, whose AEW contracts are set to expire this April, have made it clear that even they are uncertain about their future.

Fans, however, will see less of FTR for now. On a recent episode of his podcast, “FTR with Dax,” Dax Harwood disclosed that he and Cash Wheeler will be stepping away from television for a while to contemplate their next steps.

“We’re exploring the idea of opening a pro wrestling school”, Harwood said (FTR)

“We’ve requested and been granted a few months off TV to reflect, heal, and decide our future,” Harwood stated. “Our next move will be our last in wrestling. I can’t see myself wrestling on the independents or touring Japan or Mexico five years from now.”

Harwood emphasized the significance of their decision in the upcoming months. “By April, we’ll have an answer. I need to consider my health, family, creativity, and personal life in making this choice.”

He also admitted that they might not return to AEW TV before the end of their contract and mentioned that the recent upheaval in WWE is a factor in their decision. “Of course, it matters,” Harwood said. “But if we aren’t respected as we believe we should be, we won’t hesitate to explore other options, even if it means taking a year off.”

Harwood stressed that he and Wheeler will make their decision together, describing their partnership as conflict-free. They plan to discuss various opportunities, including ventures outside wrestling.

“We’re exploring the idea of opening a pro wrestling school, investing in real estate, and even starting a coffee shop,” Harwood said. “But our future in wrestling is at the top of our list.”
