Over the weekend, R. Kelly was hospitalized for two days at a North Carolina medical facility after allegedly overdosing on medications administered by prison officials. According to court documents, the overdose occurred after he was given a dosage that far exceeded safe levels, putting his life at risk.

Kelly’s legal team claims he had been prescribed medication for anxiety and sleep, which he had shown to prison staff after being placed in solitary confinement. His lawyer asserts the confinement was retaliatory, following the filing of an emergency motion citing safety concerns for the singer.

Denied Surgery and Solitary Confinement Deepen Concerns Over R. Kelly’s Failing Health

In addition to the overdose, Kelly’s legal filings claim that doctors found blood clots in his lungs and legs that required surgery. However, the Bureau of Prisons reportedly denied the procedure, citing the week-long recovery period as the reason.

His lawyer emphasized the seriousness of the condition, warning that the clots could prove fatal and that Kelly’s life remains in jeopardy due to the lack of proper medical attention. The emergency motion also accuses prison officials of neglect and deliberate endangerment of his health.

Attorney Beau Brindley detailed the events of June 13, when Kelly allegedly collapsed in his cell after experiencing dizziness and vision issues. He was reportedly so weak that he crawled to the door before losing consciousness. This incident occurred while he was in solitary confinement, a condition he has been subjected to since June 10, the same day Brindley filed the emergency motion for temporary release. Brindley argues that the move to isolate Kelly was part of a broader pattern of mistreatment.

Alleged Assassination Plot Revealed Amid Efforts to Secure R. Kelly’s Presidential Pardon

The emergency motion also includes a declaration from inmate Mikeal Glenn Stine, who alleges that prison officials attempted to recruit him to kill Kelly. Stine claimed the plot was orchestrated before his transfer to the same North Carolina facility and that he later warned Kelly about it.

While Stine’s credibility may be questioned due to his extensive history of litigation and a conviction for threatening federal officials, his statement has been included as part of the motion to highlight potential threats against Kelly’s life within the prison system.

No hearing date has been set for Kelly’s emergency motion, but his lawyer is now seeking presidential intervention. Brindley said he has reached out to individuals close to former President Donald Trump in an attempt to secure a pardon, though Kelly has no direct ties to the former president aside from living in Trump Tower in Chicago.

Brindley maintains that Kelly has previously been attacked and remains unsafe in federal custody. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Prisons has declined to comment, though prosecutors argue solitary confinement was a protective measure. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence for crimes including child sexual exploitation, forced labor, and interstate sex trafficking.
