In her new Hulu documentary series Call Her Alex, podcaster Alex Cooper reveals disturbing allegations of sexual harassment by her former soccer coach, Nancy Feldman, while she was a student-athlete at Boston University. Cooper alleges that Feldman made inappropriate comments about her appearance and sex life, and even placed her hand on Cooper’s thigh.

Feeling pressured by an imbalance of power and fearing the loss of playing time, Cooper described feeling trapped in a toxic environment. Despite bringing these concerns to the university’s athletic administration alongside her parents, Cooper says the complaints were entirely dismissed, leaving her feeling unsupported and silenced.

Ignored Complaints and Emotional Toll After Repeated Harassment by a Trusted University Authority Figure

Cooper recounts how Feldman’s attention became increasingly intrusive and personal rather than performance-based. Instead of focusing on her athletic abilities, Feldman allegedly asked invasive questions about her romantic life and repeatedly tried to be alone with her.

A former teammate, Alex Schlobohm, corroborated these claims by recalling an incident during a film session where Feldman’s comments about Cooper focused solely on her appearance. Such behavior indicated a pattern of inappropriate and unprofessional conduct from Feldman, who coached the women’s soccer team from its inception in 1995 until her retirement in 2022.

After the harassment became too much to bear, Cooper and her parents consulted a lawyer and decided to report the situation to the university instead of pursuing legal action. However, Cooper claims that BU administrators refused to investigate or discipline Feldman, offering instead to allow her to retain her scholarship.

This dismissal deeply affected Cooper, who broke down in tears immediately after the meeting and ultimately chose not to play her senior year. She graduated in 2017, emotionally scarred by an experience that she says was completely invalidated by the institution.

Overcoming Trauma, Building Success, and Confronting the Stigma of Speaking Out Publicly

Despite the trauma, Cooper went on to build a successful career in media, launching the hit podcast Call Her Daddy in 2018. Initially hosted with Sofia Franklyn and distributed by Barstool Sports, the show grew rapidly. Cooper signed a $60 million deal with Spotify in 2021 and a $124 million deal with SiriusXM in 2024.

In a recent podcast episode, she disclosed learning that other women also faced harassment under Feldman, although she did not name them. Her story has opened broader conversations about institutional accountability and the challenges survivors face when speaking out, especially against female abusers.

Returning to BU for her podcast tour triggered an emotional reckoning for Cooper. Seeing Nickerson Field for the first time since her departure caused her to confront deeply buried trauma. She admitted feeling ashamed and fearful that the public might downplay her experience, especially since the abuse wasn’t physical and came from a woman.

Cooper expressed concern that her story might undermine her brand’s message of female empowerment. Nevertheless, she chose to come forward in hopes of validating her own experience and encouraging others to speak out, even when the abuser defies stereotypical expectations.
