Halle Bailey Granted Restraining Order Against DDG Amid Abuse and Break-In Allegations

Actress and singer Halle Bailey has obtained a temporary restraining order against her former boyfriend, rapper and YouTube star DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.), following allegations of abuse. A Los Angeles judge mandated that Granberry must stay away from Bailey and their one-year-old son until a scheduled hearing on June 6.

In her court filing, Bailey, 25, claimed Granberry had subjected her to “multiple acts of physical violence” since their breakup in October 2024. She emphasized the need for protection from what she described as ongoing physical, verbal, emotional, and financial abuse.

Bailey detailed a January incident where an argument escalated as she strapped their baby into a car seat. She claims Granberry became physically aggressive, pulling her hair and slamming her face into the steering wheel, chipping her tooth. Accompanying photos of her injuries were reportedly submitted as evidence. In a separate March incident, Granberry allegedly broke into Bailey’s home while she was away and sent her a threatening message alongside a picture of her bed, implying infidelity.

In another confrontation, Bailey alleges Granberry grew enraged when she refused to send their sick child on a visit. He reportedly smashed the Ring doorbell camera during the dispute and later assaulted Bailey by slamming a car door on her while she held the baby. The incident led Bailey to file a police report. These allegations paint a picture of a toxic and increasingly dangerous dynamic that Bailey says has continued even after the relationship ended.

Bailey Seeks Social Media Gag Order Amid Ongoing Online Harassment and Public Threats

Bailey also asked the court to prevent Granberry from discussing her on his social media platforms, claiming his posts have led to public harassment and threats against her. According to Bailey, DDG’s insinuations that she is withholding their son and involved with other men have triggered hate from his large online following. She described the harassment as emotionally distressing and a continuation of the abuse she experienced during their relationship.

Halle Bailey gained prominence as part of the musical duo Chloe x Halle and later as a solo artist, earning five Grammy nominations. Her acting career includes a role in the series Grown-ish and her breakthrough portrayal of Ariel in Disney’s 2023 The Little Mermaid live-action remake. DDG rose to fame via YouTube before transitioning to music, releasing four studio albums since signing a record deal in 2018. The court’s June 6 hearing could determine whether the restraining order is extended for up to five years.
