Since its establishment in 1993, the WWE Hall of Fame has represented one of the pinnacle honors in professional wrestling, celebrating numerous iconic figures in the industry. When The Dudley Boyz were inducted in 2018, Bully Ray shared that the experience carried a unique importance for him, one that differed from the typical sentiment among wrestlers.
“My acceptance of the Hall of Fame induction was more for D-Von than for myself,” Bully revealed on “Busted Open Radio.” While he expressed gratitude for the honor, he emphasized that it focused on D-Von Dudley’s legacy. “Since I don’t have children, I wanted to ensure that D-Von’s kids could witness his induction.”
Bully believes that every time he steps through the curtain, he experiences his own version of a Hall of Fame moment. “The reactions from the fans, whether cheers or boos, have always been the only recognition I need,” he stated. He elaborated that the audience’s response is paramount in wrestling, particularly regarding how much they are willing to spend to see the talent.
He highlighted that he and D-Von made a point during their induction to acknowledge others, such as The Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian, making them the only inductees to do so. “We made it clear to Vince that it was non-negotiable for us,” he noted. “We didn’t want to be selfish about this moment.”
