The Nissan Altima is reportedly facing an uncertain future and is undergoing a serious simplification process due to declining sales. One of the most remarkable changes is the discontinuation of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which offered 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. For the 2025 model year, the Altima will solely offer a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, producing up to 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is paired with an Xtronic continuously variable transmission, with the option to add all-wheel drive for an extra $1,500 on most trims. Another key update for 2025 is the introduction of the SV Special Edition package, priced at $1,090.
This package enhances the vehicle with body-color mirrors, a rear spoiler, a moonroof, and 17-inch alloy wheels in a gloss black finish. Inside, the SV Special Edition adds a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display, and a wireless smartphone charger. It also includes faux carbon fiber trim, illuminated sill plates, and remote start functionality.
Additionally, the 2025 Altima SR will feature a new bronze wheel option, which costs $670 and measures 19 inches in diameter. The base Altima S trim now comes with an upgraded 8-inch infotainment system, replacing the previous 7-inch display. Surprisingly, Nissan has not highlighted this change in their announcements.
Pricing for the 2025 Altima starts at $27,000, marking a $630 increase from the previous year. However, customers will benefit from a new maintenance program that includes up to three scheduled oil changes.
