Robert Saleh Reveals Honest Thoughts on Increasing Training Camp Intensity

NFL teams are wrapping up training camp as they prepare for their final preseason games and finalize rosters ahead of Week 1. However, the New York Jets have taken a different approach by intensifying their practices rather than winding down, a move head coach Robert Saleh recently discussed with the media.

Saleh explained during a press conference that players understand the need for increased preparation. He noted, “The players know because you could also be on a team that’s not doing much and there can be frustration from players where they know they need more.”

He added, “You’re not trying to drive them into the dirt…but they’ve gotta get ready. Veterans appreciate this because it’s reconnecting them to how they used to prepare, and the younger guys, they’re getting affirmations every time they step on the field.”

It seems like the Jets’ players are fully aligned with this ramped-up approach, and the team hasn’t suffered many injuries from camp, so this intensity might pay off as the season starts.

With expectations sky-high this season, thanks to Aaron Rodgers returning and several key offseason acquisitions like Tyron Smith, Mike Williams, and Haason Reddick, the Jets are aiming for a strong year. Saleh, in particular, faces a pivotal season with no excuses for losing now that his quarterback is back in action and healthy.
