Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, and Peter Stormare are the latest additions to the cast of Until Dawn, a film adaptation of the acclaimed horror video game by Sony’s Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions. Their inclusion adds to a lineup featuring Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion, with production slated to begin in mid-August.

David F. Sandberg, recognized for directing Shazam! Fury of the Gods, is making a return to horror with this project. He’s reuniting with Gary Dauberman, who previously collaborated with Sandberg on Annabelle: Creation.

Dauberman, now working under his Coin Operated production banner, has crafted the most recent version of the script and is set to produce alongside Sandberg and Lotta Losten of Mångata. Additional producers include Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions.

The original Until Dawn, launched in 2015, is an interactive horror game revolving around eight friends who find themselves in a perilous remote mountain retreat. Faced with life-threatening scenarios involving a mysterious killer, cannibalistic creatures, and a decades-old mining disaster, the group must overcome their fears to survive the night. The film adaptation promises to be a chilling R-rated tribute to the horror genre, with Blair Butler penning the initial screenplay.

Details on Mitchell’s and Cameli’s specific roles are still under wraps, but it has been confirmed that Stormare will reprise his role as Dr. Hill, the game’s therapist. Sandberg has expressed enthusiasm about re-exploring horror’s diverse subgenres and integrating new elements to create a unique experience for both new audiences and game fans alike.

Mitchell, known for her roles in The Fosters and Good Trouble, has also wrapped filming on Family Secrets. Cameli, who appeared in Saved by the Bell and Along for the Ride, is gearing up for Alto Knights. Stormare, with a storied career including Fargo and Armageddon, continues to be a remarkable presence in film and TV.

Mitchell’s representation includes WME, Anonymous Content, and Myman Greenspan, while Cameli is represented by Stewart Talent, Industry Entertainment, and Hansen, Jacobson.
