Disney’s Ambitious Plans for the 2027 Movie Calendar

On Friday, the studio revealed a comprehensive update to its film release schedule, including the addition of 11 untitled projects slated for 2027. The previously scheduled films for that year were Avengers: Secret Wars, set for May 27, 2027, and an unnamed Star Wars film scheduled for December 17, 2027.

Newly added dates include an unnamed Marvel film on July 23, 2027, and another on November 5, 2027. Additionally, a Pixar film now has a release date of June 18, 2027, and a Disney Animation film is set for November 24, 2027.

Other new entries to the calendar include untitled Disney films scheduled for August 8, 2025; September 12, 2025; February 12, 2027; March 5, 2027; April 2, 2027; May 28, 2027; August 6, 2027; September 17, 2027; and October 8, 2027.

Updates to Disney’s upcoming slate also include a schedule change for Searchlight’s A Real Pain, directed and starring Jesse Eisenberg with Kieran Culkin, now moving to November 1, 2024, from its original October 18 date. An untitled Disney film has been rescheduled to August 7, 2026, and another has been moved to September 11, 2026.

The studio has removed from its calendar an untitled Disney film initially set for March 7, 2025, and a Marvel film previously scheduled for July 24, 2026.

Additionally, Disney updated the titles for Fantastic Four: The First Steps, previously set for July 25, 2025, and Avengers: Doomsday, slated for May 1, 2026. These titles were revealed during Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation on Saturday.

Disney has recently enjoyed remarkable successes with its 2024 releases. Deadpool & Wolverine achieved the sixth-largest opening of all time, while Inside Out 2 surpassed Frozen 2 as the highest-grossing animated film globally. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has also performed strongly.
