As the Jets Eye Aaron Rodgers, He’s Cultivating a Bizarre New Career

Aaron Rodgers (Jets)

Perhaps Aaron Rodgers is the ideal quarterback for Jets fans who might have been mistaken about Zach Wilson being the team’s future. The Green Bay Packers star, currently exploring new team options, is a known advocate for hallucinogens.

TMZ reports that Rodgers is scheduled to speak at a major psychedelic science conference:

The 39-year-old quarterback is among the key speakers for the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies’ “Psychedelic Science 2023” event in June, which is being hailed as “the largest psychedelic gathering in history.”

This conference, set to attract around 10,000 attendees, will feature speeches, workshops, and panel discussions focused on hallucinogens.

Rodgers has openly discussed his enthusiasm for Ayahuasca, a plant-based psychedelic he credits with benefiting his mental health and contributing to his MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021.

Recently, the Packers granted the Jets permission to engage with Rodgers. A delegation, including owner Woody Johnson, head coach Robert Saleh, general manager Joe Douglas, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, and team president Hymie Elhai, traveled to California for a meeting with Rodgers on Tuesday.

It seems the meeting was promising from the Jets’ perspective. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, there is growing optimism within the Jets’ organization following their extensive in-person discussion with Rodgers. The team is hopeful they are close to securing the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

At this juncture, the decision rests entirely with Rodgers. If he chooses to join the Jets, it appears he will become part of the team.
