It caused a lawsuit from the man who later became president. Now, it’s been nominated for a big award, for the exact reason that made Donald Trump so angry.
The “60 Minutes” piece about Kamala Harris that aired last fall — the same one behind Trump’s \$20 billion lawsuit against CBS — was nominated on Thursday for an Emmy in the category of “outstanding edited interview.” In his lawsuit, Trump claimed the editing was misleading and made his Democratic rival look better.
The News & Documentary Emmys will be presented in late June. “60 Minutes” is up against interviews with singer Celine Dion, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, Pope Francis, and basketball player Brittney Griner.
The Harris interview still causes tension at CBS News. The network insists it did nothing wrong, but its parent company, Paramount Global, is said to be discussing a possible settlement with Trump.

Many CBS News staff members are against settling. Bill Owens, who used to be the executive producer of “60 Minutes,” stepped down last month after opposing any deal. He said he left because of limits placed on him by the company after the Harris segment. The interview is being looked into by the FCC, led by the chairman picked by President Trump.
On Wednesday, Trump repeated his complaints about the interview in a post on Truth Social. This time, he also criticized The New York Times for an article published Tuesday that said “legal experts have called the suit baseless and an easy victory for CBS.”
“They don’t believe that — they just suffer from TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME,” Trump wrote, saying he’s thinking about legal action against the newspaper.
The New York Times responded, saying, “The New York Times will not be deterred by the administration’s intimidation tactics.”
