2026 Kia Sportage Facelift Gives Compact SUV a More Traditional Look

In a competitive market like compact SUVs, standing out requires unique design elements. The current Kia Sportage certainly makes a statement with its bold look, but not all attention-grabbing designs translate into widespread popularity.

Regardless of how it’s perceived, Kia plans to give the Sportage a more conventional front end in the upcoming 2026 model, aligning it more closely with the brand’s recent designs. The refreshed U.S. model, inspired by the updated Kia Sportage already on sale in Korea, will feature a larger, more upright grille flanked by vertical daytime running lights.

The front bumper will also undergo changes, incorporating a squared-off air intake. The rugged X-Line trim will showcase a distinct grille mesh and a redesigned front bumper with blockier elements, including integrated fog lights.

Inside, the Sportage will receive a revamped dashboard that replaces the vertical air vents with a new panoramic display. The updated infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as over-the-air updates.

A new steering wheel design with flat edges at both the top and bottom will further enhance the interior. The Korean model also introduces a range of upgraded features, including a fingerprint-authentication system, a head-up display, Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing capabilities, and remote parking assist.

Although Kia has not officially confirmed details about the U.S.-bound 2026 Sportage, it’s anticipated that more information will be revealed soon, possibly at the upcoming L.A. auto show. Currently, the 2025 Sportage and Sportage Hybrid start at $28,565 and $29,965, respectively, with price increases expected for the updated models.
