Volvo Cars is advancing its electrification efforts by expanding access to over 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations across the U.S. and Canada, providing greater convenience for owners of its fully electric vehicles, including the new EX90 flagship SUV.
This new network of charging stations adds to the existing infrastructure, which already includes tens of thousands of fast-charging points. Beginning with the 2025 model year, new Volvo EX90, EX40, or EC40 electric vehicles will come with an adapter that allows owners to charge at Tesla Superchargers and other North American Charging Standard (NACS) stations.
Drivers of current electric Volvo models can also access these charging stations with the purchase of an NACS adapter, available at authorized Volvo Cars retailers in the U.S. and Canada for US$230/CA$310 MSRP. These adapters will begin shipping to retailers on November 18, 2024. Details about adapter availability for the EX30 will be shared at a later date.
The Volvo Cars app also offers an easy way for fully electric vehicle owners in the U.S. and Canada to find public charging stations, check real-time availability, and pay for charging through a single interface. Additionally, drivers can ask Google Assistant in their vehicle’s infotainment system for directions to the nearest charging station.
