Barcelona Forward Just Three Goals Away from Joining Messi and Ronaldo’s Elite Circle

Robert Lewandowski has been in sensational form this season, returning to peak performance levels under Hansi Flick’s guidance.

At 36, the Polish forward has already netted 17 goals in 15 appearances, tallying 14 in La Liga and adding three more in the UEFA Champions League.

Lewandowski is on the verge of joining an elite group alongside Messi and Ronaldo

Ahead of Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League clash against Crvena Zvezda, Lewandowski stands on the brink of achieving a historic milestone in the tournament.

With 97 Champions League goals to his name, the Barcelona striker is just three goals shy of reaching the 100-goal mark, a feat only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have accomplished.

Ronaldo and Messi are the only players to have surpassed this mark, with Ronaldo scoring 140 goals across stints with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, while Messi recorded 129 with Barcelona and PSG.

Lewandowski has consistently excelled in the Champions League with each of his clubs.

He scored 17 goals in 28 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, amassed 69 goals in 78 games for Bayern Munich—where he won the title under Flick—and has scored 11 goals in his 17 matches so far with Barcelona.

It seems very likely that Lewandowski could reach this landmark against Crvena Zvezda.

Recently, he has scored in five consecutive matches for Barcelona, including a double against Young Boys, a hat-trick against Alaves, two against Sevilla, one against Bayern Munich, and another two against Real Madrid.

While he didn’t score in the derby against Espanyol—a rare occurrence given his scoring rate this season—he’ll be eager to find the net against Crvena Zvezda and continue his impressive form.
