Discover the 507bhp Maserati Shamal Project MA-01 with All the Retro-Futuristic Elements

The term ‘restomod’ may usually bring the ‘Porsche 911’ to mind, but here’s a refreshing twist: known as ‘Project MA-01,’ this stunning creation from the newly established Modena Automobili pays homage to the beloved Maserati Biturbo Shamal from the 1990s.

This impressive model retains its original chassis, which has undergone a complete stripping, rebuilding, and reinforcement process to support a new powertrain. It now features the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine from the contemporary Ghibli S, delivering a substantial performance upgrade. The result is a robust 507bhp, enabling a swift 0-62mph acceleration in just 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 177mph—impressive, to say the least.

Moving on to the aesthetics, the car maintains its distinct boxy shape, characterized by clean, sharp lines and smooth bodywork. A lightweight carbon body kit enhances the front, sides, and rear, complemented by new LED light signatures at both ends. The design also boasts wider wheel arches and an expanded track to accommodate larger wheels and brakes.

While the newly added curved carbon rear wing is a standout feature, the classic thick black roof-line pillar and quad-exhaust are still present, although the exhaust system is likely updated. Additionally, some of the air inlets integrated into the bodywork have been enlarged, potentially for improved cooling or similar performance enhancements.
