Luke Getsy Fired as Offensive Coordinator of the Las Vegas Raiders

Changes are afoot for the Las Vegas Raiders’ offense as the team has parted ways with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Following the Raiders’ latest defeat against the Cincinnati Bengals, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Getsy has been let go after only nine games in charge.

Throughout the season, the Raiders’ offense has struggled impressively. While issues with quarterback and offensive line play contributed to the struggles, Getsy’s play-calling also played a role in the team’s offensive failures.

Scott Turner emerges as a potential interim offensive coordinator for the Raiders (Las Vegas Raiders)

Hired during the offseason after a disappointing run as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, Getsy oversaw an offense that ranked 29th in total yards, 19th in passing yards, dead last in rushing yards, and 26th in points scored.

As of now, it is uncertain who will step in to handle the play-calling responsibilities, but Pelissero suggests that passing-game coordinator Scott Turner could be a “logical candidate” for the interim role.

Turner previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Football Team from 2020 to 2022. After the disheartening loss to the Bengals, head coach Antonio Pierce indicated that the team would examine “everything” regarding potential changes during the bye week.

Clearly, the initial focus was on making a much-needed adjustment to the offensive strategy.
