Next Tuesday marks the 2024 USA presidential election, prompting “WWE NXT” to shift its programming from the usual timeslot to Wednesday night. This change positions “NXT” in direct competition with “AEW Dynamite” for that evening.
During a recent episode of “Busted Open Radio,” former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa shared her insights on how “NXT” is passing this scenario by incorporating an ECW theme into its upcoming broadcast.
According to Rosa, “It’s a strategy that they have because they’re going on a Wednesday, not on a Tuesday, against AEW. If you don’t do a good job promoting it or creating a big-fight atmosphere, who will tune in?
Everything they’ve done in the last five days leading up to next week’s show is strategic. Fans are engaged and excited. When you generate excitement about storylines, even those that haven’t had much time to develop, it pays off because viewers will show up and discuss it. That’s essential for shows like this.”
As noted by Rosa, the buildup for the “NXT” event on November 6, taking place at the historic ECW arena in Philadelphia, has been brief yet impactful, featuring several intriguing developments.
In line with the legacy of the former Paul Heyman-owned promotion, ex-ECW manager Dawn Marie is set to act as the special guest referee for a hardcore match between Lola Vice and Jaida Parker.
Additionally, former ECW Television Champion Rob Van Dam and eight-time ECW Tag Team Champion Bubby Ray Dudley (also known as Bully Ray) will make appearances, with Dudley teaming up with NXT Champion Trick Williams.
