34,000 2025 Ram 1500 Trucks Recalled Over Possible Electronic Stability Control Issue

A recall has been initiated for the redesigned Ram 1500 due to potential issues with its stability control system. This action affects 33,777 half-ton trucks from the 2025 model year, although the automaker estimates that only about one percent of these vehicles are actually impacted. The affected trucks were manufactured between October 13, 2023, and August 11, 2024.

The problem stems from potential damage to the front wheel bearing encoder rings that may have occurred during handling, as detailed in documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) by Ram. According to the report, if the encoder rings are compromised, it could result in the wheel-speed sensor losing its signal, thereby disabling the electronic stability control (ESC) system.

To fix this, Ram plans to inspect and replace the front wheel bearing hub assembly if necessary (RAM)

The absence of stability control elevates the risk of a crash, which is why Ram is proactively issuing this voluntary recall. To address the issue, the company plans to inspect the front wheel bearing hub assembly and replace it if necessary.

Ram has also stated that it will reimburse customers who may have incurred expenses to fix this issue prior to the recall announcement. Notifications to dealers are currently underway, with letters to vehicle owners expected to begin around December 19.
