As late October approaches in the NFL season, the trade deadline is drawing near. Following moves by the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills for star wide receivers on Tuesday, ESPN insider Adam Schefter appeared on Get Up Thursday morning to discuss other potential trade candidates.
“Wide receiver is the position to watch… Players like Diontae Johnson, Jonathan Mingo, and Adam Thielen from Carolina, along with Treylon Burks and DeAndre Hopkins in Tennessee, are available. You also have Darius Slayton, Mike Williams, and Zay Jones. There are plenty of wide receivers on the market if teams choose to pursue that route,” Schefter stated.
He also suggested that circumstances for many teams might shift in the upcoming weeks. What happens if the Jacksonville Jaguars continue to struggle? Alternatively, the Bengals, who were unable to reach a deal with Tee Higgins earlier this offseason, might consider trading him if they face challenges, allowing them to gain some value in return.
Beyond the NFL Draft and free agency, the trade deadline could be the most attractive aspect of the NFL season that does not directly relate to on-field performance. As the weeks progress, it will be interesting to see if new names arise as potential trade targets beyond those mentioned by Schefter.
