A new chapter begins for Davante Adams as he joins the New York Jets. After a disappointing stint with the Raiders, the former star wide receiver was traded to the Big Apple, marking an outstanding change in his career.
In his initial meeting with the New York media this week, Adams elaborated on the challenges he faced with the Las Vegas team. “A lot of the success me and Aaron had is because we were on the same page…Sometimes you gotta find a way to still make a play work…I’ve got a lot of familiarity with this offense and with the quarterback, and he understands how I see the game,” Adams explained on Wednesday.
This statement underscores the disconnect he experienced with the Raiders’ offensive strategies. His desire to team up with Aaron Rodgers and the Jets stems from this lack of cohesion, as Rodgers is not only his favorite quarterback but also a key connection in his career.
Adams also has established ties with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who played a pivotal role in his rise to becoming a First-Team All-Pro in Green Bay. Additionally, former Packers teammate Allen Lazard is part of the Jets, enhancing Adams’s comfort level in the new environment.
Compared to his time in Las Vegas, where consistency was elusive—especially after the departure of his college teammate, quarterback Derek Carr—Adams now reunites with the quarterback who has brought him the most success in a robust offensive system.
