Update on Devin Booker’s Injury From Suns Head Coach

Fans of the Phoenix Suns were left disappointed when Devin Booker was absent from Friday night’s preseason game against the Detroit Pistons. Dealing with an ankle injury, the guard’s absence was addressed by head coach Mike Budenholzer, who reassured that there’s no need for concern.

As reported by Gerald Bourguet, Budenholzer emphasized, “It’s the preseason. There’s no reason to push just generally him, his ankle, and I think he’s gonna be fine.” While this update is certainly reassuring, some Suns fans may remain skeptical.

Booker participated in earlier preseason games but did not take the court against the Pistons, with the team stating it was merely a precautionary measure. He is still expected to be part of the starting lineup when the regular season begins in two weeks.

Injuries have historically plagued the Suns, often derailing their entire season, which explains the concern surrounding this situation, regardless of its perceived minor nature.

Additionally, the team is contending with a finger injury to big man Jusuf Nurkic, who also missed Friday’s game. There is a hope that both Nurkic and Booker, along with the rest of the team, can remain injury-free, though there’s a lingering worry that this could be just the start of more issues.

Last season, Booker averaged an impressive 27.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game, earning him another All-Star selection. The Suns are eager for a successful season, which hinges on having Booker healthy and ready to compete throughout the year.
