A strong start characterized the Buffalo Bills’ 2024 NFL season, as they secured victories in their first three games before encountering a challenging stretch with two consecutive losses.
After setbacks against the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans, the Bills now face a daunting challenge in Week 6 as they prepare to battle division-rival New York Jets on “Monday Night Football.”
In recent weeks, Buffalo’s offense has encountered massive struggles, with quarterback Josh Allen finding it difficult to effectively move the ball downfield. With the wide receiver corps not meeting expectations, the team has shifted its focus to the ground game in an effort to advance the football.
On the defensive side, the Bills have performed well, although a rising number of injuries have begun to take their toll in recent weeks. Before facing the Jets, the Bills confirmed that star defensive tackle Ed Oliver will be sidelined, as reported by Sal Capaccio of WGR 550.
This marks the second game Oliver will miss due to a hamstring injury sustained during practice, representing a huge setback for Buffalo’s defensive line.
Recognized as one of the league’s premier interior pass rushers and a formidable run defender, Oliver’s absence could provide a considerable advantage to the Jets, who are seeking to revitalize their offense.
Since Oliver has been unable to practice, his availability for the upcoming short week against the Tennessee Titans remains uncertain. Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky due to their propensity for re-injury, leading the Bills to likely exercise caution and keep Oliver sidelined for as long as necessary.
