New Addition Joins Patriots Roster to Fill Stevenson’s Spot

The New England Patriots, coming off a dismal offensive season in 2023, are struggling once again in 2024, managing just 12.4 points per game. Things have gotten even tougher with the news that starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson, one of the few bright spots on offense, will miss the Week 6 matchup against the Houston Texans, forcing the team to adjust their roster.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the Patriots have elevated practice squad running back Terrell Jennings to the active roster due to Stevenson’s foot injury. Stevenson’s absence was anticipated since he sat out practice throughout the week, making his unavailability less of a shock.

Antonio Gibson will step into the starting role, with JaMycal Hasty moving up the depth chart, while Jennings will likely provide additional support if necessary.

The timing couldn’t be worse for New England, as rookie quarterback Drake Maye is set to make his first NFL start, and losing Stevenson leaves the young signal-caller without a key offensive weapon.

Stevenson has been productive early this season, racking up 356 yards and three touchdowns with an impressive 4.6 yards per carry, a jump from his 4.0 YPC last year.

Patriots fans will be watching closely to see if Gibson can step up, and so far, he has proven to be a valuable addition, averaging 5.9 yards per carry and 10.8 yards per reception.
