Analyst Calls for 1 Quarterback to Take a Seat on the Bench

The New York Giants have a long way to go before they can compete with the NFC’s top teams. A factor holding them back is the inconsistent performance of quarterback Daniel Jones.

In their recent 20-15 defeat against the Cowboys, Jones played decently but failed to get the offense into the end zone. Throughout his career, Jones has had only one standout season, in 2022, when he led the Giants to the playoffs.

Now, voices like ESPN’s Marcus Spears are suggesting that his time as the starter might be up. “It’s time for Daniel Jones to be benched,” Spears remarked on Friday’s episode of Get Up.

Currently, the Giants are struggling with more than just their quarterback, as their roster lacks consistency, and head coach Brian Daboll has been unreliable in getting the most out of the team.

At the most critical position, Jones has provided only subpar play. With a career record of 23-39-1 and just one season with a QBR above 60, the former first-round pick has not lived up to expectations.

Without Saquon Barkley, the pressure on Jones has only increased, but he hasn’t stepped up. The Giants’ coaching staff and front office will soon need to determine how long they can continue with such middling results at quarterback.

Jones is earning $160 million yet hasn’t proven to be the elite player the Giants need. For New York to become a contender, they may need to seriously reconsider if Jones is the right fit moving forward.
