Analyst Calls Out Bears for Poor Utilization of DJ Moore

Chicago Bears fans are puzzled by the team’s underwhelming 1-2 start, particularly regarding DJ Moore’s minimal involvement.

Despite signing a massive four-year, $110 million deal, Moore has averaged only 55 receiving yards per game with a mere 19 catches through the first three matchups.

The root of this problem seems to lie in inconsistent quarterback play and a disorganized offensive game plan. ESPN’s Tom Waddle didn’t shy away from criticizing the Bears for failing to capitalize on Moore’s abilities.

Looking back at Moore’s standout 2023 season—96 receptions, 1,364 yards, and 8 touchdowns—the Bears must rethink their strategy to maximize his impact on the field (Chicago Bears)

“He’s ranked 72nd out of 95 qualified receivers in average depth of target. You can’t just rely on bubble screens and short passes; you have to use your top receiver downfield,” Waddle emphasized on ESPN 1000.

With Caleb Williams now in the fold, the pressure on the coaching staff to better utilize their offensive assets, including Moore, is increasing. There is growing concern that this underperformance could continue as the season progresses.

To truly unleash Moore’s potential, the Bears must rethink their approach. Looking back at his standout 2023 season—96 receptions, 1,364 yards, and 8 touchdowns—it’s evident that giving him more opportunities could transform the offense.

Incorporating more plays designed for Moore and positioning him strategically to create favorable matchups might be the solution to turning the Bears’ season around.
