Since stepping away from in-ring action in 2019, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has frequently been asked about the possibility of stepping into an on-screen managerial role. One name that often comes up in these discussions is Chad Gable, whose character and Olympic background closely resemble Angle’s own career path.
There was also talk of Angle potentially managing former WWE star Matt Riddle, though he turned down the role because WWE’s financial offer wasn’t sufficient. During an appearance on “K&S WrestleFest,” Angle elaborated on the idea of managing Gable and his American Made faction, while also discussing the negotiations with WWE over Riddle’s potential partnership.
“If the financial offer made sense, I think working with Chad and his group would be a fantastic fit. WWE initially approached me to manage Matt Riddle when he first joined, but the offer just wasn’t worth it. As much as I love the wrestling business, you also need to think like a businessman and make choices that are best for your family,” said Angle, reflecting on the situation.
Angle further mentioned that if given the chance to manage in WWE, he would be open to taking minor bumps or engaging in some light physicality. However, he acknowledged that participating in a full match is no longer realistic for him.
