Bentley Commences Manufacturing of the New Continental GT

On the same day that Walter Owen Bentley celebrated his 136th birthday, the assembly line at the Crewe factory produced the very first fourth-generation Bentley Continental GT.

This inaugural model, matching the specifications of the one used for its official launch, features a striking Tourmaline Green exterior complemented by Gravity Grey and Mandarin interior accents. Initially, this car will serve as a member of the UK press fleet before being added to Bentley’s Heritage Collection.

This Bentley Continental GT offers an impressive 0-62 mph acceleration time of just 3.2 seconds with a 50-mile electric driving range (Bentley)

Belonging to a distinguished group, the first next-generation Bentley Continental GT will join the company’s Heritage Collection, which encompasses 45 remarkable Bentleys from each decade of its 105-year legacy. It will also follow in the footsteps of earlier models produced for private customers.

The 2024 version of the Bentley Continental GT has undergone a serious transformation, evolving into a hybrid Speed variant. This sportiest coupe has replaced the renowned W12 engine with a powerful new electrified powertrain, delivering an impressive 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. This setup includes a twin-turbo V8 paired with a zero-emission electric motor and a 25.9 kWh battery.

As a result of these enhancements, the car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, while also offering a pure electric driving range of 50 miles based on the EU driving cycle. Regarding the commencement of production, Andreas Lehe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing, expressed his enthusiasm:

“The fourth-generation Continental GT is a true masterpiece. The distinctive and sought-after Tourmaline Green launch colour on the body is a modern interpretation of the historic Bentley Green, designed and painted by our in-house craftsmen.

The vehicle completed an impressive 92 assembly stations during the production process, and we also pushed the boundaries of the vehicle’s interior design with three-dimensional leather textures, modern quilting, and dark chrome trim. Our Crewe craftsmen truly excelled, ensuring that every detail exuded luxury.”
