Booker T’s Insight on a ‘Refreshing’ Encounter with CM Punk at NXT Event

During the recent episode of “WWE NXT,” CM Punk made a remarkable appearance by interrupting the contract signing between Ethan Page and Trick Williams. He declared that he would act as the special guest referee for their NXT Championship match scheduled for October 5 on The CW.

Since his return to WWE last November, Punk has played a key role behind the scenes, mentoring younger talent and providing valuable insights. Following the broadcast, Booker T shared his thoughts about his interaction with Punk on his “Hall of Fame” podcast. He emphasized that there has never been any conflict between them.

Booker praised Punk for his commitment to mentoring younger wrestlers, highlighting the invaluable role that veterans play in supporting emerging talent (NXT)

“I had a conversation with CM Punk, and it was quite positive. Some fans might have been surprised by our exchange, but the reality is we’ve never had any serious issues. There were misconceptions during his time in AEW, but I never held any real grudge. I did make comments about him while he was in UFC, but they weren’t intended to be negative.”

Booker T also remarked on how his view of Punk has changed since Punk’s earlier days in WWE, attributing this shift to the more structured environment of the company compared to AEW.

“I definitely see a different side of CM Punk now. It’s important to recognize that AEW’s less structured environment may have influenced him. During a press conference, he spoke about working with many younger wrestlers, which is true.

In a new promotion lacking established procedures, it can be challenging. Coming back to WWE means adjusting to a system where everything is clearly defined and he’s among peers.”

He commended Punk for his dedication to helping younger performers, stressing that nothing can replace the impact of a veteran supporting emerging talents. Booker also highlighted that after the show concluded, Punk took the time to connect with fans in attendance, expressing his appreciation for Punk’s efforts to engage with the audience.
