Stephen Amell, best known for his roles in “Heels” and “Arrow,” has made several appearances in the wrestling world, despite it not being the first association people have with him. His involvement includes stints in ROH and AEW, highlighted by his participation in the memorable All In independent event in 2018.
However, the match that stands out the most for fans took place at Summerslam 2015, where Amell teamed up with Neville, now known as Pac in AEW, to face King Barrett, also recognized as Wade Barrett, and Stardust, currently “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes. Reflecting on this match during a recent episode of “Insight,” Amell candidly shared his feelings of anxiety leading up to the event.
“I wouldn’t suggest anyone have their first match at a premium live event in f***ing Brooklyn,” Amell admitted. “I was so nervous that I forgot to even get in the ring.” Amell entered the match with the backing of Road Dogg, who acted as the agent, and Cody Rhodes, who was instrumental in his training. Although Rhodes was encouraging, he insisted that Amell execute a specific move that made him anxious.
“We decided that Cody would springboard into the ring to kick things off, followed by my own springboard,” Amell explained. “I was terrified of messing it up and even asked him right before we started, ‘Do we have to begin with the springboard?'” Though Amell hasn’t wrestled since 2020, he has expressed a desire to return to the ring, even naming potential opponents he would like to face.
