Eric Bischoff Sheds Light on the ‘Odd’ Connection Between Netflix and WWE

Beginning in January, “WWE Raw” will be available on Netflix, coinciding with the upcoming release of a documentary about former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has expressed concerns that the two projects might conflict.

Bischoff voiced his confusion during a recent episode of “83 Weeks,” stating, “The situation is perplexing to me. Netflix has just finalized a $5 billion deal with WWE. The ink is still drying, and they haven’t even launched their first show, yet they’re planning to present McMahon in a manner that may not reflect positively on the brand.”

He speculated that Netflix might be rushing to release the documentary in September to ensure that any unflattering revelations are considered old news by the time “Raw” premieres in January, allowing WWE’s parent company, TKO Group Holdings, to separate itself from McMahon. “Unless there’s a strategic reason behind this — like further distancing TKO from Vince McMahon — there’s no justification for it,” Bischoff remarked. “Otherwise, it just adds to the confusion.”

McMahon stepped down from all roles at WWE and TKO Group Holdings in January after facing allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and sex trafficking from former employee Janel Grant. This marked his second retirement, following an initial departure in 2022 due to revelations about hush-money payments to former employees.
