WWE’s Drew McIntyre Talks About the Influence of Dave Bautista on His Career

Drew McIntyre, a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, has expressed his admiration for his friendship with Hollywood star Dave Bautista, known as Batista in WWE.

In addition to his recent rivalry with CM Punk, McIntyre has taken part in the film “The Killer’s Game,” which features Bautista.

During a recent Reddit AMA aimed at promoting the movie, a fan inquired about Bautista’s kindness and whether he truly embodies the caring persona he projects in interviews.

McIntyre affirmed this characterization and shared how Bautista guided him in his early career. “Absolutely! He’s naturally introverted, much like me—many wrestlers are,” McIntyre explained.

“When I first met him, I thought he didn’t like me because he was so quiet. However, he started mentoring me when I was younger, and he really looked out for me, helping me pass WWE.

Now he’s doing the same as I step into this new world. He’s a great guy.” The bond between McIntyre and Bautista likely began in the late 2000s, a time when McIntyre was establishing himself in WWE while Bautista was already a leading star.

Although they shared a locker room, they never faced each other in the ring, as Bautista departed WWE in 2010 to pursue acting. Now, McIntyre is following in Bautista’s footsteps with “The Killer’s Game,” marking his debut in film.
