WWE Star Rhea Ripley Reflects on Dominik Mysterio’s Family Dynamics

Rhea Ripley and Dominick Mysterio, while not on par with the legendary duo of Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, have certainly made their mark as one of wrestling’s most attracting onscreen couples. Their unique chemistry, though rooted in storyline, has captured audiences.

Currently embroiled in a lover’s quarrel, Ripley is set to challenge Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship at Bad Blood on Saturday, October 5. In a recent appearance on “The Wrestling Classic,” she hyped the upcoming match while also commenting on Mysterio’s “daddy issues,” a reflection of their close relationship during their time together.

“You can tell a man has daddy issues when he gets so excited about being called ‘daddy,'” Ripley remarked. “He’s just got family issues, let’s be honest. Because now he’s saying that I made him call me ‘mami,’ and he never liked calling me ‘mami.’ Like, you got problems, my dude, because you came up with that by yourself.”

The storyline between Mysterio and Ripley took shape during a time when Adam “Edge” Copeland was still part of the company. Having recently been ousted from The Judgment Day—a faction he originally formed—Edge’s absence paved the way for Finn Balor’s entry into the group.

The remaining members aggressively recruited Mysterio, leading to his official inclusion on “WWE Raw” after Clash at the Castle. That night, Ripley’s affectionate gesture toward Mysterio marked the beginning of their connection.

Although their relationship has since ended, Ripley believes it was essential for Mysterio to step out of Rey’s shadow. “Dom had to get out of Rey’s shadow,” she noted. “Rey was picking Edge over his own son … I do think that Rey was in the wrong. But at the same time, I think that Dom has hurt me in a bigger way than Rey ever hurt me. So he’s more in my good books than Dom is right now.”
