The partnership between TNA Wrestling and “WWE NXT” has proven beneficial for talents like Jordynne Grace, Joe Hendry, and Alexander Hammerstone, yet The Rascalz have faced a series of unfortunate events.
Initially, they were betrayed by Wes Lee, who brutally attacked both Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel. Just as they were about to turn things around, a cruel twist of fate denied them an opportunity to compete for the NXT Tag Team Titles.
Reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicate that Miguel and Wentz were scheduled to challenge NXT Tag Champions Axiom and Nathan Frazer. However, a minor surgery forced Trey Miguel out of the match, leaving the former TNA World Tag Team Champions sidelined.
The Rascalz were replaced by “SmackDown” team The Street Profits, but this substitution brought its own complications. Officials were reluctant to have The Profits lose to the NXT Tag Champions, yet they also didn’t want the titles to change hands. As a result, fellow “SmackDown” wrestlers Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Jacob Fatu intervened, leading to a no contest.
While there were initial plans for some form of interference, the specifics were finalized only when officials needed a solution for the tag title match. This interference is anticipated to enhance fans’ expectations of main roster stars appearing on “NXT” following its debut on The CW in October. However, CM Punk and Randy Orton are already confirmed for appearances in the first two episodes of “NXT” on The CW.
