With the highly anticipated WWE NXT premiere on the CW network set for October 1, the show has been drawing an increasing number of surprise appearances. Recently, figures from SmackDown, such as The Bloodline, and TNA stars like Jordynne Grace, Hammerstone, and Rosemary have made guest spots.
The lineup for the debut event is also shaping up, with CM Punk confirmed to be part of the launch in Chicago. His participation is expected to kick off the excitement during next week’s episode. WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T addressed the rising expectations for the superstars on his Hall of Fame podcast.
The seasoned commentator highlighted the growing attention on the product and the added pressure for the performers. With more eyes on the show and social media being an ever-present factor, Booker T noted, “There’s going to be a lot more criticism if you’re not delivering at a high level.”
The increased exposure will push the talent to perform their best or risk faltering. Reflecting on the competitive environment, Booker emphasized, “As always, the cream rises to the top.” Though no longer an active wrestler, Booker expressed a mix of enthusiasm and envy regarding the opportunities today’s performers have in WWE’s developmental system.
He shared how much he would have appreciated the chance to come up in an NXT environment during the start of his career. “This is a huge deal,” he commented, adding that NXT would have been an ideal platform to propel his career. “I can’t help but feel a bit envious of the opportunities this generation has,” Booker admitted.
