WWE’s SmackDown and NXT Prepare for Network Moves: Backstage Changes Revealed

WWE is on the brink of major shifts, with its shows set to move to new streaming services and networks. These  outstanding changes have led to “Fightful Select” confirming that all WWE programs will experience production adjustments, particularly with “WWE SmackDown” transitioning to USA Network and “WWE NXT” heading to The CW.

“Fightful” reports that a fresh theme song will debut for “SmackDown,” replacing the Def Rebel track that has been in use for the past three years. The new theme is expected to feature a mainstream artist, although specifics about the artist have not been disclosed.

Additionally, changes in episode pacing are anticipated, with “SmackDown” benefiting from increased flexibility, while “NXT” will face more rigid scheduling.

Historically, “SmackDown” concluded at 9:58 PM Eastern to avoid overlapping with local news, a concern that will no longer apply with its new network. On the other hand, “NXT” will likely need to wrap up by 10 PM on The CW.

However, “Fightful” highlights WWE’s strategy of bolstering both “SmackDown” and “NXT” rosters with prominent talent ahead of their network debuts.

This move, aimed at making a strong impression on The CW, includes high-profile additions like Giulia. WWE’s efforts are particularly focused on October 8, when “NXT” will face off against “AEW Dynamite,” intensifying the competition and boosting ratings.
