Baron Corbin’s journey in WWE has included a variety of character changes, with one persona being that of a distressed gambler. However, Corbin himself reveals that he was grappling with serious challenges before his return to “WWE NXT,” where he was teamed up with Bron Breakker.
“Before I transitioned back to ‘NXT,’ I was in a really tough spot on the main roster,” Corbin shared with “WrestleManiac UK.” He confessed to feeling exhausted both physically and mentally, and he acknowledged that his pairing with JBL didn’t resonate with fans as he had hoped.
“It didn’t connect with the audience in the way I anticipated; I still think it had potential,” he reflected. The unfavorable reception of his JBL partnership left him feeling quite disheartened. “It kinda put me in a dark place,” he admitted. Corbin saw his move to “NXT” as an opportunity to showcase a more authentic version of himself and bring genuine depth to his character.
He mentioned receiving a lot of encouraging messages from peers about his work on “NXT.” Corbin appreciated the creative latitude he enjoyed on the brand and found that the fans responded positively to his new direction.
“The audience saw a different side of me there, and their reaction was like, ‘Oh, he can really perform?'” He fondly remembered working with younger talent on “NXT,” noting that this period was crucial for revitalizing his career and mindset.
