Jaguar Land Rover Announces Launch of Tata Platform-Based ICE Models in India for Next Year

Jaguar Land Rover is set to introduce a new model built on an advanced platform developed by Tata, its parent company, with the launch scheduled for next year, according to Autocar. This innovative platform will also support a premium Tata vehicle, as revealed by Tata Group chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran.

The new vehicles will be manufactured in a state-of-the-art factory in India, with plans to export them to international markets, as reported.

Chandrasekaran explained, “By merging Tata Motors’ cost efficiency with the design elegance of Jaguar Land Rover, we achieve benefits for both brands in different ways. This synergy will increase production volumes, which supports the investment in the new platform,” he told Autocar India.

Although specific details regarding branding and powertrains have not been disclosed, it is anticipated that these new models will not be electric. The Indian market remains predominantly reliant on internal combustion engines, as noted by Autocar.

Given the focus on the Indian market, these new models are expected to be available mainly in Asia, with broader international exports considered at a later stage. Currently, Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are assembled in Pune, India, from knock-down kits for the local market.
