Cate Blanchett, Andrew Garfield, Pamela Anderson Among the Stars Heading to San Sebastian’s Biggest Edition

The San Sebastian International Film Festival this year is set to showcase one of its most star-studded lineups ever, featuring international superstars like Cate Blanchett and Javier Bardem, both recipients of the Donostia career achievement award.

Other remarkable attendees include Andrew Garfield, Pamela Anderson, Tilda Swinton, Lupita Nyong’o, and filmmaker Pedro Almodovar, who will also be honored with a Donostia award. Directors such as Adam Elliot, Gia Coppola, Mike Leigh, and Walter Salles will also be present.

A host of other global acting talents have confirmed their participation in this year’s event, including Monica Bellucci, Jamie Campbell Bower, Johnny Depp, Isabelle Huppert, Noémie Merlant, Ángela Molina, Franco Nero, Charlotte Rampling, and Will Sharpe, among others.

While directors often present their latest projects at San Sebastian, this year’s festival sees an increase in the number of films from highly acclaimed filmmakers. These include the latest works by Jacques Audiard, Sean Baker, Edward Berger, Leos Carax, Costa-Gavras, Audrey Diwan, Arnaud Desplechin, Mati Diop, Coralie Fargeat, Payal Kapadia, Dea Kulumbegashvili, Joshua Oppenheimer, François Ozon, Mohammad Rasoulof, Jane Schoenbrun, and Paolo Sorrentino.

San Sebastian is also a popular destination for Spanish stars, and this year’s festival will see appearances from local talents like Raúl Arévalo, Juan Diego Botto, Victoria Luengo, and Melania Matthews from The Room Next Door; Patricia López Arnaiz and Antonio de la Torre from Glimmers; Mireia Oriol from I’m Nevenka; Ester Expósito from The Wailing; and Carmen Machi and Manolo Solo from Celeste.

Several Spanish filmmakers will be showcasing their latest films as well, including Pilar Palomero with Glimmers, Iciar Bollain with I’m Nevenka, Pedro Martín-Calero with The Wailing, Albert Serra with Tardes de soledad, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia with the highly anticipated sequel The Platform 2, and Paco Plaza with Mugaritz.
