2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Preview in Malaysia: 650 PS, 770 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 3.4 Seconds, EV Hot Hatch Expected at RM390k

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) is showcasing an exciting new addition at the Sime Darby Motors Automania event, located at Carpark B, National Stadium Bukit Jalil. The highlight is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, an electrifying variant from Hyundai’s performance-oriented N division. This model, crowned the 2024 World Performance Car of the Year, combines remarkable performance with striking aesthetics.

The Ioniq 5 N’s introduction in Malaysia is presented as a preliminary preview. Although HSDM hasn’t disclosed an official price, they are accepting pre-orders for this distinctive electric vehicle. Potential buyers can contact HSDM to secure one of these striking machines, available in various colors. This marks the second N model offered by the distributor, following the i30 N.

Powered by an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery, it offers a range of 448 km and supports 350 kW DC fast charging, reaching 80% in 18 minutes (Hyundai)

Under the hood, the Ioniq 5 N features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering 609 PS (448 kW) and 740 Nm of torque. With the N Grin Boost (NGB) engaged, these figures jump to 650 PS (478 kW) and 770 Nm, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The top speed is a thrilling 260 km/h.

The vehicle is powered by an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing a range of up to 448 km on the WLTP cycle. It supports DC fast charging at 350 kW, enabling a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes.

Distinctive features of the Ioniq 5 N include a wider body, enhanced cooling and aerodynamic designs, a black interior with sporty accents, bucket seats with illuminated N logos, and a more rigid body structure. Performance upgrades include a rear electronic limited-slip differential, improved brakes, and a suite of N-specific features such as N Pedal for better throttle response, N Drift Optimiser for easier drifting, and various driving modes for customized performance.

The Ioniq 5 N also offers advanced technologies like Brake Regen for enhanced regenerative braking, e-shift for simulated gear shifts, and Active Sound+ for a unique auditory experience with three sound themes. While HSDM hasn’t confirmed the exact price, it’s estimated around RM390,000. This puts it in competition with the Tesla Model 3 Performance, which, at RM242,000, offers a different approach with slightly less performance but a higher range.
