Malaysia Welcomes BYD Seal Dynamic on September 6 – 204 PS, 460 km Range, Expected Price Under RM160k

The previously delayed entry-level BYD Seal, known as the Dynamic Standard Range, is now set for launch by distributor Sime Darby Beyond Auto on September 6. This new model will reduce the starting price of Malaysia’s most popular electric vehicle.

As the base model, the Dynamic version offers the lowest power and torque within the Seal lineup, as well as the shortest driving range. However, it still performs well with a rear-mounted motor producing 204 PS (150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque, similar to the motors in the Atto 3 Extended Range and Dolphin Premium Extended Range. This allows the vehicle to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

The Dynamic is equipped with a smaller 61.4 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which provides a WLTP-rated driving range of 460 km, in contrast to the 570 km offered by the Premium model (with 313 PS/360 Nm) and the 520 km of the Performance AWD (with 530 PS/670 Nm and an 82.5 kWh battery). Like the other models, the Dynamic supports up to 7 kW AC charging, taking 8.6 hours for a full charge. However, it offers 110 kW DC fast charging, lower than the 150 kW available on higher-end versions.

In addition to the smaller battery and reduced power output, the Dynamic will feature the smaller 18-inch wheels, according to a teaser. While it is expected to have fewer features compared to its more expensive counterparts, it will likely remain decently equipped, as both the Premium and Performance variants come with similar specs.

There’s no official pricing yet, but with a RM20,000 difference between the RM179,800 Premium and the RM199,800 Performance, a similar gap is anticipated between the Dynamic and Premium models. This could mean the Dynamic may be priced below RM160,000.
