Amazon Prime Video is set to launch a new docuseries titled “Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story,” which delves into the fascinating and enigmatic history of the iconic Lisa Frank brand. The series promises to explore the vibrant and whimsical world of Lisa Frank Inc., a company that once captured a generation of American youth with its colorful, imaginative designs but then seemed to vanish almost as abruptly as it appeared.
Behind the enchanting rainbows and psychedelic art, “Glitter and Greed” aims to uncover an attracting narrative filled with intrigue and secrets that have been hidden within the company for years. This four-part series will feature more than twenty interviews with former employees, fans, and journalists who have closely followed the brand’s rise and fall.
Directed and co-executive produced by Arianna LaPenne, the docuseries is produced by Maxine Productions from Sony Pictures Television, known for their recent work on “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.”
The project is also executive produced by Mary Robertson, founder and president of Maxine Productions, Lisa Kalikow, and Sony Pictures Television Nonfiction’s Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman.
Lauren Anderson, head of brand and content innovation at Amazon MGM Studios, notes that while Lisa Frank’s vibrant and nostalgic brand evokes fond memories for many, there’s a deeper, more complex story behind the scenes.
Mary Robertson adds that growing up with Lisa Frank’s products brought a sense of magic and creativity to everyday life, and she is excited to reveal the remarkable true story behind the brand with this series.
