Naomi Osaka’s Major Milestone: Top 10 Win and Progression to US Open Round Two

On Tuesday, Naomi Osaka achieved a milestone by securing her first victory over a top-10 player in over four years, triumphing 6-3, 6-2 against Jelena Ostapenko in the US Open’s opening round. Osaka’s performance was as striking as the oversized green bow adorning her outfit, as she overwhelmed the No. 10 seed with a series of powerful serves.

Despite her success, Osaka has been candid about the challenges of coming back after childbirth. In a recent Instagram post, she admitted struggling with her form and adjusting to her body changes. As she prepares for her second-round match against 2023 semifinalist Karolína Muchová, Osaka plans to stay focused, enjoy the game, and cherish precious moments with her daughter.

Osaka also embraced a more vibrant and extravagant style for the US Open, including green bows on her sneakers and a bold outfit. She noted the unique energy of her New York attire, reflecting, “I hope it’s not too over the top, but I’m ready to fully embrace this maximalist style.”
