Rimac Nevera R Doubles Down with 2,107 HP for Unmatched EV Power

When a relatively unknown electric vehicle startup gains global recognition with a record-smashing hypercar, the next logical move is to surpass that achievement. For Rimac Group, the Croatian company founded by Mate Rimac, this means building on the success of the Rimac Nevera by introducing its successor: the Rimac Nevera R, which debuted at Monterey Car Week. The Nevera was the realization of Rimac’s childhood dream to create a fully electric hypercar, a feat that once seemed impossible.

Yet, with the Rimac Concept_One and then the Nevera, Rimac not only met expectations but exceeded them, with the Nevera setting 23 performance records in a single day in 2023. Now, the $2.5 million Nevera R represents the next step in Rimac’s journey, with only 40 units planned out of a total 150-unit Nevera production run. This latest version boosts power to a staggering 2,107 horsepower, up from the original Nevera’s 1,914 hp, embodying the purpose of radical, rebellious, and relentless innovation.

The Nevera R shifts its identity from a Hyper GT to a Hyper Sports Car, combining an aggressive, lightweight design with unparalleled speed and agility. It’s powered by a next-generation 108-kWh battery pack using LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cell chemistry, designed for sustained high performance while maintaining a peak charge rate of 500 kW.

Although its range is projected at around 250 miles on the European WLTP cycle, the car’s real appeal lies in its blistering speed: 0–60 mph in just 1.74 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 8.23 seconds, and a top speed of 217 mph—or 256 mph under specific conditions with manufacturer oversight.

The design of the Nevera R features approximately 20-30% new parts, including a refined front end, a new diffuser, and a double-layer fixed wing that enhances downforce and aerodynamic efficiency. The car’s carbon fiber structure is the stiffest Rimac has ever built, with a complex design that ensures both a low seating position and easy access, along with ample interior comfort.

The interior, inspired by Rimac’s 1984 BMW E30, showcases a green theme, with Nebula green accents throughout the show car’s cabin. The Nevera R will be manufactured alongside the original Nevera at Rimac’s facility near Zagreb, with deliveries set to begin in early 2025. Despite the broader slowdown in EV demand, Rimac remains confident that their distinct approach to electric hypercars will continue to attract collectors and enthusiasts alike.
