Patrick Mahomes, the reigning Super Bowl champion, is gearing up for the 2024 NFL season while also addressing some intriguing remarks from flag football quarterback Darrell Doucette. Despite his busy schedule preparing to defend his title with the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes found time to respond to Doucette’s bold statements.

Doucette, who is a prominent flag football player and quarterback for the U.S. national team, recently made headlines with his comments during a TMZ interview. He claimed that he could lead Team USA more effectively than Mahomes if flag football were to be featured in the 2028 Olympics. “I believe my football IQ surpasses that of Patrick Mahomes,” Doucette asserted.

In response, Mahomes took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a clip of Doucette’s statement, accompanied by a GIF of rapper 50 Cent looking perplexed. Mahomes, who has earned three Super Bowl rings and MVP honors in each of those championship games, clearly found Doucette’s remarks amusing.

Doucette, who sported a T-shirt emblazoned with “G.O.A.T.” (Greatest of All Time), defended his position by emphasizing his superior knowledge of flag football over traditional football. As the reigning MVP of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) flag football championship, Doucette has established himself as a key player in his sport. His teams, both men’s and women’s, remain undefeated in the IFAF championships.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Doucette voiced his frustration over the notion that NFL players would automatically be chosen for the 2028 Olympic flag football team. He argued that it was disrespectful to overlook the contributions of those who have developed and promoted the game to its current level.
