Volkswagen ID. Buzz EV: Price Tag Exceeds That of Standard Minivans

Volkswagen has disclosed the pricing for its futuristic ID Buzz electric van, which will hit dealerships later this year. The starting price of $61,545 might seem steep, but it aligns with the cost of similar three-row electric SUVs like Kia’s EV9. Despite its premium price, the ID Buzz is competitively priced against its electric peers, offering similar features and personality.

Compared to traditional minivans, the ID Buzz is priced on par with high-end models like the plug-in Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, which offers a limited electric range, and conventional minivans from Honda, Toyota, and Kia, which range from $40,000 to $60,000.

Volkswagen’s ID Buzz starts at $61,545 with options for rear or all-wheel drive and a range of features (Volkswagen)

The 2025 ID Buzz will be available in three trims: Pro S, Pro S Plus, and 1st Edition. Each model is well-equipped, featuring standard 20-inch wheels, a 91-kWh battery, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies. Additional amenities include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 30 colors, and a power tailgate.

The entry-level Pro S, starting at $61,545, offers extensive features but limited customization. It comes with rear-wheel drive and a single motor, delivering an EPA-estimated range of 234 miles. The Pro S is only available with a second-row bench seat for seven passengers and lacks options like captain’s chairs or a two-tone exterior.

Upgrading to the Pro S Plus, priced from $65,045 for rear-wheel drive and $69,545 for all-wheel drive, introduces dual-motor all-wheel drive with increased power and additional features. This trim offers options like a panoramic sunroof and two-tone paint, along with a higher range of 231 miles.

The exclusive 1st Edition, available only at launch, starts at $67,045 for rear-wheel drive and $71,545 for all-wheel drive. It includes unique 20-inch wheels, a two-tone paint job, and special interior details, along with additional features such as a panoramic sunroof and captain’s chairs for six passengers.
