GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 (2024) Delivers Top-Tier Luxury

GMC Sierra EV Denali (GMC)

The name “Sierra EV” might sound oddly similar to “CR-V” when uttered quickly, but despite the resemblance, this is no compact Honda crossover. Instead, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV is a substantial light-duty electric pickup truck that surpasses even three-quarter-ton trucks in weight and height. While the concept of such a massive electric vehicle might seem novel, GMC has already introduced similar models, including those developed by the same company. The Sierra EV aims to advance electric pickups into mainstream acceptance, a goal GMC is optimistic about achieving.

The initial offering of the Sierra EV is the fully equipped Denali Edition 1, which will be available for a limited run in the 2024 model year. Future trims for 2025 will include a standard Denali and additional Elevation and AT4 variants.

The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 sets a new standard in electric trucks with unmatched luxury and advanced features (GMC)

To understand GM’s strategy, it’s helpful to compare its electric truck lineup. The GMC Hummer EV is designed to be the ultimate electric truck, featuring extreme power and advanced features. However, the Chevrolet Silverado RST is styled for sporty appeal, with a sleek front design and aggressive sail panels—attributes that align with its Rally Sport Truck (RST) moniker.

The Sierra EV, however, focuses on luxury. Its interior is designed for quiet comfort, and its electric nature is subtly communicated. Unlike the Silverado, which sports a contrasting-color E badge, the Sierra EV features only a discreet Sierra EV badge on the tailgate to denote its electric powertrain.

The Sierra EV’s design is both bold and practical. Its imposing front end, described by designers as a “fist in the wind,” and its more vertical sail panels are engineered for aerodynamic efficiency. It also includes practical features like the MultiPro MidGate and MultiPro Tailgate, which together allow for up to 10 feet, 10 inches of cargo space. The “eTrunk” frunk is equipped with two drains to accommodate wet gear, although it lacks a front lip, which could lead to spills of ice or other contents.
