Former GM Advises Steelers to Trade QB to Minnesota Vikings

The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves facing a difficult situation at the moment. Russell Wilson, in his first preseason game, appeared out of sync. More concerning is that he’s still dealing with recurring problems, such as holding onto the ball for too long and taking unnecessary sacks.

Similarly, Justin Fields has struggled, fumbling several snaps and hesitating in making decisions. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings are also looking for improvement at quarterback, with Sam Darnold stepping in as the starter due to J.J. McCarthy’s injury.

In light of these challenges, former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum shared an intriguing idea. Speaking on ESPN’s Get Up, Tannenbaum suggested that the Vikings trade for Wilson, considering him a superior option to Darnold and creating competition at the quarterback spot.

For the Steelers, a potential move could involve bringing in Ryan Tannehill, reuniting him with Arthur Smith, who was his offensive coordinator during his time with the Tennessee Titans. Although these suggestions might seem logical on the surface, they are unlikely to materialize.

Tannehill remains a free agent, with limited interest from other teams, which raises doubts about his value. Additionally, the Vikings trading for a struggling quarterback like Wilson doesn’t make much sense without first allowing Darnold to prove himself.

In truth, both franchises are in tough situations, and attempting to fix each other’s issues may not provide the solutions they’re hoping for.
