November Vinyl Release for Benjamin Wallfisch’s ‘Alien: Romulus’ Score, Featuring Homage to Goldsmith and Horner

On August 16, the score for “Alien: Romulus” will debut on digital platforms, with a physical release scheduled for November. Benjamin Wallfisch composed the soundtrack for this Fede Álvarez-directed installment, which takes place between Ridley Scott’s 1979 “Alien” and James Cameron’s 1986 “Aliens.”

Wallfisch, who has received both Golden Globe and Grammy nominations, drew from the influential scores by Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner, as well as Marc Streitenfeld’s music from Scott’s 2012 “Prometheus.”

The digital version will offer 20 tracks, while the vinyl edition, available from Mutant on November 15, will feature alternate cover art and six bonus tracks. Pre-orders for the vinyl start on August 16. Wallfisch, renowned for his recent work on “Annabelle: Creation,” “Blade Runner 2049,” and “Twisters,” has a reputation for reinterpreting classic film themes with a contemporary twist.

He expresses his enthusiasm for the project: “Working on this storied franchise was a thrill. By integrating elements from Horner and Goldsmith’s scores with new electronic and orchestral sounds, I aimed to honor the original tone while introducing innovative aspects.”

The score is designed to reflect the film’s complex characters and the suspenseful ambiance of space, merging traditional and modern musical techniques. A sampler of three tracks from Wallfisch’s composition is available, but fans should avoid reading too many track names before seeing the film. “Alien: Romulus” is set to open in theaters nationwide on August 16, offering fans an eagerly anticipated experience.
